december 11: favorite water pokemon!

Poliwag, Poliwhirl, and Poliwrath are all based on tadpoles. Poliwag is the most tadpole like of all of them, as it has a tail and no legs, but all three of them resemble tadpoles in that the spirals on their bellies are supposed to represent their internal organs, which are visible through their skin, like tadpoles. It’s a bit weird that there wasn’t a frog part of the line until the Politoed branch in Gen 2.
